Yung Weyr offers a multitude of different reasons to join the Weyr- both official and ones submitted by the members and co.

Because..

1. Yung Weyr is canon. :) Why else?
   
2. Yung Weyr is intermediate/advanced. Strange, but true.
   
3. Yung Weyr features an original plot that has never been employed in any other Weyr on Fandom!Pern.
   
4. There are actual pestilential plots that- while annoying the IC life of characters- also lend realism to the roleplaying. (Bring on the trundlebugs!)
   
5. Yung Weyr offers a unique position in the Weyr hierarchy for the chromatics.
   
6. The Hatchings feature egg and Hatchling descriptions, not to mention colorless Hatchings, but ones that permit the gender of the Hatchling to be known.
   
7. Miniplots and realism are encouraged here- on a day-to-day basis. While you're waiting for that huge-scale Pern-wide plot to build up, why not have your traders go on strike because their prices aren't being met?
   
8. It's probably the only Weyr on Pern to have out-and-out prejudice. (Though the first person who says anything against religion/skin-color/sexual preferences will be booted out for Thread to eat. And being staked out there for a couple Turns before Thread finally comes to devour what remains won't be fun.)
   
9. There are plenty of positions to apply for, in case we have any ambitious people out there in the crowd.
   
10. Rather than seeing an already-completed Weyr, Hold and Hall, you can actually watch as new Halls are constructed, and apply for MasterCrafting there. (Also, you can vote as to which sections are constructed, which Halls should be built first, etc.)
    
11. The inevitable sea of politics: who will become next Lord Holder? Who will make the MasterCrafter of this-or-that Hall?
    
12. You can also be Holdless here- and the Holdless are given plots to attend to as well. (Warning to all those supposedly rebellious young adolescent-characters: if you get too evil for the Holders/Halls to handle, you will be shoved out to be Holdless. And your life won't even be over even if you get kicked out of your Hold/Hall/Weyr. At least, not until Thread comes..)
    
13. A charming layout. (At least, we hope it charms. Rather than, you know, blinding.)
    
14. Active admin can be seen around the site - stay tuned for more on their sightings!
    
15. For those who are seeking to improve their roleplaying skills, there are tips and guides for those that desire them.
    
16. Ranks are always automatically attainable - it is the use of the rank itself that proves whether you're worthy of it.
    
17. There might actually be.. (gasp) old people here! Yes, the less than beautiful and young- those folk with the warts and the missing fingers and the grizzled faces.. We love them and want them. Just as long as the ones with warts don't mess with the food.
    
18. The members are friendly, of course. At least, the ones that aren't bothered don't bite.. ;)
    
19. Site routine is very far from traditional. Yung actively flirts with politics, violence, romance, and occasionally all three at once.
    
20. Murders, love octangles (and other polygons), and conspiracies are always going on somewhere!
    
21. It's active without being blindingly difficult to catch up to, and the members are always open to both plots and threads.
