The Advert Board
We once again have one, though it may not be permanent. Since we've hit a rough patch in recruitment and activity, it seemed like a good little experiment. If you have any major qualms with this then feel free to angrily message me. XD

Hey.
So. Who saw this coming?

Pern's just not doing it for me anymore. I thought the hiatus might help, but instead it just helped me realise that... Pern really isn't doing a thing for me anymore. I know that my current team's a little idle, but I'm sure they'll do a good job. (Left notes for you guys on the admin board, and am always available on MSN/email/LJ if you have questions about what else to do.)

What can I say? It's been four lovely years. I've enjoyed all of them and all of you guys. I wouldn't mind any LJ-stalking or MSN-stalking or whatever have you. Saresa can be kept around as an NPC, since she pretty much designed the Weyr hierarchy to revolve around her. Stuff can happen to the rest of my characters as you please - just don't treat them as voodoo dolls, please. ;)

... Apparently it's a day for ditching. Didn't see the other notice, but guess maybe it's a sign.

New powers in town
So, as you may or may not have noticed, Nadia, Sab, and Adele have admin powers now. You three can check the admin board for all of my notes. Appeal to Adele for plot approval and recruition. Nadia approves applications and all IC appointments (so if you want a transfer or a promotion for your character, she's the one to go to). Sab can update pages and approve plots also. Threadfall duties are split between the three of you in a rote; decide what order you want to go on.

Assume that Saresa and co. are still around in their usual capacity. If there's something you absolutely need one of my characters for, PM me. As for admin decisions, I maintain retcon powers, so just bear in mind. I love y'all.

This summer is not working out for me.
I have about five minutes to type this, so forgive me if it doesn't all come out coherently. This summer? I'm not doing so hot. I know I haven't been around much, and I know that I'm probably one of the main reasons why it's so slow around here at the moment. Plots, and all. So here's the thing:

Until I can manage to make some kind of a return, I'd like to know if anybody thinks they'd have the time to moderate. What does this mean? I give you a set of plots I want to do in the future, and you either start up those plots or approve plots that don't interfere with Yung's future. You'd have the ability to approve applications -- although that's really not necessary at the moment -- and recruit with official seal and everything. Mind that I have retcon powers on the applications, so you'd have to be careful on those, but everything else would be basically mini-'Spair powers.

If you're interested, comment. Everyone else, go along and try to keep going.

Bad News
I'll be posting this in the Small Talk boards, too, because I'm told that nobody pays attention to the news articles I put up. -glares-

My laptop broke. To be more specific, in the middle of the night there was a brilliant flash of light. Unlike most fantasy heroines, however, when the smoke cleared, I was not in a brand new world with a priest standing over me anointing me the Chosen one, but rather, in my bedroom with a laptop buzzing at me like an enraged cricket.

What does this mean for me? Well, for starters, I've lost two manuscripts, five outlines and a really large epic fanfic. I'm looking up hard drive enclosures because the data probably isn't cor-- oh, right, nobody cares.

What this means for you is that I'm essentially on hiatus. I can't make it to the lab every day and I'm going to have to spend a lot of time as it is recovering data. I don't know how long this will last - my mother's supposed to sail in this afternoon with another laptop so that I can at least *work* - but I need you to keep your chins up and keep Yung active for me.

YOU LOVE ME, AMIRITE. -shameless emotional blackmail-

Oh, and to all ye in threads with me: you owe me, goddammit.

It's Graduation Time!
The Weyrlings have officially been bumped to dragonriders - check the People of Pern page on Friday for the wing listings. I'll also post their assignments on the Help & Advice board if you're too lazy to scroll through the page yourselves. There will be no graduation ceremony, as this was an enforced aging and therefore ceremony and celebration are not warranted. Neither do you guys get shiny jewelry like the last batch. Shiny jewelry only comes with completing all the Weyrling lessons!

...not that anyone wanted it.

Anyway. <3 You guys are officially Graduated.

MOVED: Threadfall
Due to general consensus on the Weyrlings, we'll be fuzzy-timing them at the start of May to get a nice start. Threadfall's also been moved to May 10th in order to accomodate everyone's schedules. If you can't make it this time, again, leave a comment.

All right. I know that things have been kind of slow here lately. To give us a goal to strive after: Kinotath has laid twenty-five eggs. That means that we need a minimum of twenty-five Candidates. Once we hit that number, we'll give everyone a deadline for the Hatching, which will be in less than a month from then. At present we have considerably less than that, so if you want to move on, get moving! (Note: creating twenty Candidates yourself is not an option.)

We're also considering fuzzy-timing the Weyrlings into graduation and starting afresh with the next set. Thoughts on the matter can be posted in the comments to this news post.

New Threadfall is tentatively scheduled for April 25th. If you have a conflicting schedule or other comments you'd like to make on Threadfall, again, post on this article.

And recruit, guys!

Bronze Weyrling S'tyn is running a slightly less-than-savory gambling operation out of the Weyr Dining Caverns -- here, if you're interested. Care to make a quick mark or two? Then drop by to make a list of people for his Yungun Death Pool! Below are the conditions:

THE YUNGUN DEATH POOL
Modeled after popular Celebrity Death Pools, the rules are simple. You pick a set of five Yunguns whom you think will die by Turn's End. The one with the most right answers wins.

Well, it might be a little more complicated than that. Your character puts in their bet to a pot, so the more people participating the more the pot is worth. You have to message Sabine with your characters list because of the point system. If a character's name is reoccurring on the lists then they are worth less points, so this encourages originality and strategy.

(Here is the fine print: If nobody gets a single prediction, then S'tyn wins and runs with the pot.)
