Across a broad band of level cerulean, utterly unstirred by the wind’s efforts in the midst of a lazy Southern afternoon, rests the Weyr. Some peculiar illusion of emerald and sapphire have conspired together to cause it to appear closer to the shore than it truly is. In reality the long-extinct volcano, a mountain filled with large spaces and ledges perfect for dragon dwellings, is set in the midst of a lush tropical forest that has been separated from the treacherous waters of Drake’s Lake by a strip of sand. In the midst of this oasis the barren, greenless domain that the Weyr has selected as its home stands out all the more starkly.
Around the Weyr, twists of rock and long turns spiral upwards, narrow fingers straining to scrape the sky. They are frequented by the more hardy runners in order to deliver messages to the Hold and Halls.
Freshwater is supplied by the three lakes that stream into a single river, running a slight distance away from the sea-bound Weyr. Verdant forestry overlooks the river as it streams out into the ocean, counterfeiting a fragile peace. Despite the warnings that all nearby dwellers have been given regarding the hidden menaces within, the daredevils of the folk still venture out to seek out the felines for a chase that often only has a single loping, golden-furred victor.
Firelizards, no longer merely myths of the Northern Continent, nevertheless maintain markedly few numbers as they coast through the air, filling it with scintillating dragonwings in miniature in silent greeting to the newcomers who watch their dazzling aerial show, a better welcome than any words spoken aloud.

Welcome to Yung Weyr, an approved alternate Third Pass Pern roleplay whose in-character areas extend through the farthest reaches of Pern - from the wintry High Reaches to the glorious jungles of the Southern Continent. We lean toward loose canon - Threadfighting female greenriders and the occasional female bluerider to shake up the hierarchy - and our history requires a lot more from a would-be character at Yung than simply having drifted through life.
We keep our ranks pared down to a strict gender ratio between boys and girls, so keep in mind that female characters are less likely to make it through the cut than male. After all, we're still playing in a world where the idea of female MasterCrafters tend to be scorned, where the first daughter of the Lord Holder never inherits the Hold, and where the only position of total power for women is the rank of Weyrwoman.
All we ask from members are literacy, activity, and creativity while remaining faithful to McCaffrey's books in moderation. And what we offer in return is a world of your own, to shape and revolutionize as you desire. Your characters will be living in a time of great peril, with treacherous Istans lurking behind every corner, and Threadfall always on the horizon...
Why don't you come see for yourself?
